The recent public tragedies over the last few months done to our black friends and neighbors is something that we as an organization cannot sit idly by and watch any longer. We stand with the black community in saying enough is enough.

The long-lasting effects on the mental health of the black community due to decades of racism and discrimination needs to come to an end. It has been said that “the only thing necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing.” Too many good men and women have been sitting on the sidelines for far too long to do nothing. The time is overdue for us all to stand up.

Compeer is an inclusive organization and we support everyone no matter one’s race, religion, ethnicity, or sexual orientation. We denounce inequalities based on these, and other, factors.

As mental health agency, Compeer believes in the healing power of friendship and that just one caring friend can be life changing for individuals striving for mental wellness. This mission is more important now than ever. We are all in this together and we all need to be better in reaching out to the black community in providing support and healing.

Our values include respect, trust, hope, support, and empowerment. And those values apply to all our staff, volunteers, clients, and stakeholders. We embrace these values as we continue to learn together how to make a lasting positive impact for the lives we are honored to be able to reach each and every day.

It is time we take a stand with the black community by actively showing our love and support for justice. Enough is enough.
