So...How Do You Become A Compeer Volunteer?
It's as easy as 1-2-3-4!
Step 1 is to JOIN!
Complete an application on-line by clicking here. Once you apply, a Compeer Program Coordinator will
contact you to schedule an interview and discuss volunteer opportunities. Our volunteers come from all
walks of life, all races, all religions, and urban and suburban areas.
Step 2 is the MATCH!
All Compeer volunteers attend a training along and also are required to participate background checks and
fingerprinting. Once those elements are complete, you and your Compeer friend mutually decide to become
matched. Compeer kids, adults and seniors are as diverse as our volunteers. They are referred to Compeer
by mental health professionals.
Step 3 is to MEET!
Meet with your Compeer friend! Compeer staff, along with the referring mental health professional,
supports volunteers and mentors with ongoing professional guidance to help encourage the
development of a great friendship!
Step 4 is to ENJOY!
Have a blast spending time with your Compeer friend. Attend special Compeer events and share in activites
that you both equally enjoy such as movies, sports, or eating out...the possibilities are endless!
