From the moment I walked into my interview, I knew that this was one very special place. There was palpable energy and obvious camaraderie among colleagues. Pair that with humor, and you have a workplace that is supportive, collaborative, and downright fun. I write this just four days into my new position and already I find myself looking forward to coming to work each day.

I arrived on the job just in time to attend the annual picnic where I met several volunteers and their friends; observing their interactions was most significant in better understanding the magic that is Compeer.

My work history has been primarily with older adults in various capacities. I have worked with individuals living with mental illness and have witnessed first-hand the impact of isolation. Compeer provides that valuable support, a shoulder, an ear, a presence. Simply the knowledge that someone is paying attention, cares, and can provide a link to the community, can be life-changing.

On a personal note, I recently earned my Master’s in Social Work degree from University at Buffalo. I have two daughters whom I adore, and I love music and dance.
